We have been so fortunate with the weather. There were some showers the first day we were here when we went on our eyeglass repair adventure........and then two weeks of solid sunshine and refreshing temperatures. Today (Wednesday) was the bookend day to the first. Our last day here, with clouds and showers off and on most of the day. To be honest, we both had to slow down a bit. Yesterday used a lot more energy than we planned, and our dinner and drinks capacity was pushed to the limit!
We woke up this morning with no energy (or interest) in heading out too quickly! We had a nice breakfast here, using up eggs, cheese, tomatoes, prosciutto, basil (our plant has been great) and strawberries. We then showered and tried to start the packing organization, but ended up napping to the sound of the rain outside.
Around noontime I decided to venture out for some final groceries for lunch and dinner today. Andrea volunteered to stay behind and watch our luggage (haha) so I was off on my own. I went down three stops on the vaporetto to Palanca. Everything on San Giorgio was closed today, as Wednesday is a day off for the exhibits and the San Giorgio Café. Very quiet.
At Palanca, the produce shop I was planning to visit was also closed. I ducked into a convenience 'farmacia' for some toothpaste and then headed two minutes down the fondamenta to Majer. It was very quiet and the folks behind the counter were friendly......nice that they recognize me now.......hate to leave! In any case I got some panini for lunch and some pastries for dinner and croissants for breakfast. We have a taxi pick-up at 8:00 but should have time to eat!
Back at the Residenza we had a nice lunch and guess what (another riposa in the cozy rain). I did some work catch up in the afternoon and painted for a while. Andrea was earnestly finishing her packing. The most time of the afternoon was spent taking down our paintings from the 'second' kitchen wall. This is where we posted them up with painters' tape in order to keep them off the tables. The final count:
5 rows of 10 = 50!
