Martedi....... un altro motivo per rallentare! (slow down)

Tuesday, and a nice day to sleep in.  Even though the skies seemed to clear last night, some showers moved in in the early hours.  Our only key agenda item for the day was to have lunch at Antiche Carampane.  This is a wonderful, way off the beaten track, restaurant near Campo San Polo.  It is listed in the Michelin Guide as one of the best fish restaurants in Venice.  We have been here once before and enjoyed it so much that we made an effort to get a reservation months ago.  Last time we actually got lost trying to find it!  It is non-descript on the outside and has only 24 seats inside.

We gave ourselves some extra time to get there, as we had to take two vaporetti and walk for about 15 minutes.  It was raining lightly as we headed out at 11:45.......for our reservation at 1:00.  The boats were crazy busy and a bit off-schedule, so the extra time really helped.  We arrived right at 1:00.

Suffice it to say that the meal was fantastic.  We clearly ate too much (particularly with the desserts!) and a full carafe of wine.  We will let the photos speak for the meal.  On the way back we took a different route and went over to the Rialto Mercati (markets) to pick up some food essentials.......always better to food shop when you have no appetite!

We meandered through a lot of circuitous routes to miss the crowds in San Marco, and stopped for a cafe machiato and some pastries to bring back at Pasticerria Bonifacio.  We had a serious 'retreat' to our beds when we got back and slept from 4:00 until 5:30! and then a couple of hot showers!  Today had a different pace, but we still managed to empty the fuel in our tanks! Without doing any museums or sites, we still logged in 8,100 steps.......3.4 miles.  In fact, today we crossed the 20 mile/50,000 step walking 'boundary' for our trip........no wonder are legs are feeling a bit tired!

Anyway, dinner at the ranch tonight.......pasta and pizza which turned our really well, followed by some of the pastries!  Ready to hit the sack and relax.  We will add the photos and hopefully be in bed by 10:00!

p.s. - we shifted gears a bit with the photos today to document some of the crazy Venetian shop windows!

We thought we requested no rain on this trip!

INTERESTING LANDMARK NEAR THE RESTAURANT
Ponte delle Tette is a small bridge over the Rio di San Canciano in the parish of San Cassiano, Venice, Italy, in the sestieres of San Polo. It takes its name ("Bridge of the Tits") from the use of the bridge by prostitutes, who were encouraged to stand topless on the bridge and in nearby windows to entice and convert suspected homosexuals........haha, back in the 16th century!
