As we put this day into our blog, we are reminded how prominent 'food' has become to describing what we do. Maybe it relates to an exhausting amount of excercise.......for which we need nutrition! I suspect, however, that we just love the experience of dining in Venice, in almost any venue. Today we have another reservation for lunch, at a small restaurant with a wonderful outdoor terrace. We have tried previously, but have never been able to get a reservation.......for years now. This time Andrea connected!
In addition to this we got snagged into an after lunch sit down gelato 'fix' at Nico's on the Zattere Fondamenta.......and later decided to go out to dinner on Giudecca near Zitelle. We were really fortunate at dinner to find an open table right on the water. There are two restaurants side by side with outdoor seating.......and there were crowds of locals arriving to have a drink and watch the sun set over the water. This is truly a remarkable location. It has a great view over the Giudecca canal back to Venice, and almost everyone hanging out is from Giudecca.......or are locals escaping from Venice centro to avoid the crowds. As there are only two major hotels on the island, it is typically off the beaten tourist track. Hard to describe the feeling here.

Home for a rest.......and then off on our dinner adventure.......nice evening for fishing!
